We are thrilled to congratulate our Vice-President, Donja Rodriguez, on being awarded the Catherine B. Stillman Community Impact Award, in recognition of her exceptional dedication to animal welfare. Donja won the award by a landslide following a public vote. She was presented with her award at the Toast to Tails Gala last night, and we are extremely proud of her achievement. Before and After Stories

BEAUTY

A very sick, injured and close to death dog was bought to us some time ago by a friend of the rescue. We were unsure if this almost invisible animal could pull through by just the way she looked. How could any living creature go through who knows what and still be standing.
This was Beauty when she was brought to us
This poor dog was then taken into our veterinarian where it was found she had mange, open sores all over her body, malnourished and in need of an FHO surgery (femoral head ostectomy). We were at a loss and did not know if her body would be able to take all the medications she needed to get well or even be able to ever be healthy enough for surgery. She was in foster care 4 months before she could even be considered for surgery but, it happened and.....
Beauty made a full recovery and was adopted by the lovely man who found her at deaths door. She is the picture of perfect health, has new friends to snuggle with and never has to worry about anything for the rest of her spoiled life. Beauty shines brighter than ever and is the poster fur-child for of what rescue and adoption can do.... It doesn't change the whole world but has changed Beauty's world.
Borris
Many of you see all the before and afters that are physically hard on our fosters. Now we introduce Borris who was emotionally traumatized for reasons unknown to us. He was found in a shelter along side his brother. They were both scared and antisocial we were not sure if they could be rehabilitated. His brother Horris blossomed much more quickly and was adopted. Borris was left alone and scared and placed in another foster home. He would hide and stiffen up at any sign of affection or touch. Slowly and we mean slowly he started to improve but still wasn't comfortable with much of anything. Most people look for the energetic friendly pup but Borris was different. We knew he needed a special guardian angel who would take him in and really understand who he was.
Along came Mrs. Judy Bowman! She was a blessing sent to us looking for a pup that needed a little extra love and care. We explained Borris' quirks and she was ready with open arms to give Borris a chance. Borris made a trip to Kingsville and met his new mommy. We believe they were meant to be and Judy thinks the same.

But wait there is more..... A malnourished greyhound showed up in the shelter months later and knowing that Judy had experience with the breed we contacted her. We were hoping she could get him into a breed specific rescue but no Judy was not having that! She wanted to adopt him. From our experience with Judy we knew Mr. Greyhound would be living the life. So off he went to Kingsville to start a new chapter of nothing but being spoiled.
Judy now has Angus (formerly Borris) and Finn (formerly Mr. Greyhound)! They are both thriving and have the best home they could possibly dream of. Thank you Judy you are a savior and rock to these two! Angus is running free now with less anxiety and Finn has definitely gotten to a healthy weight with their new mommy on the watch.
